Textfire

Textfire isn't really a game company. It started as an April Fool's Day joke: in 1998, a number of game authors pseudonymously wrote twelve short "demos" of odd or ridiculous text adventures and released them as the "Textfire 12-pack". Since then the Textfire label has become a way of indicating that a game is out of the ordinary and probably not to be taken seriously. The Textfire web site, on the other hand, is the home to several IF-related endeavors, including recent editions of the annual rec.arts.int-fiction contest.
